One of the most beautiful things about gemstone Malas is that not only they look beautiful, but they also serve a purpose for wellness and self-care. But how can jewelry be used for wellness and have a medicinal purpose?
The answer to this question will take us back 5,000 years, to one of the oldest medicine systems of the world known as Ayurveda. Ayurveda, originated in India and was present in ancient holy scriptures know as the vedas. Malas are traditionally from India and have been used since ancient times for self-care, which has become the most revolutionary, trendy lifestyle practices in the west: Meditation.
In the oldest existing scriptures, know as the Rig Veda, gemstones are created through intense heat and tectonic pressure inside the Earth, that crystallises ions and other elemental compounds, which can absorb, reflect and radiate different frequencies of light and to transfer this light in the form of Ions to the lymphatic fluids and blood plasma filled with electrolytes (Johari, 1996). We have certainly seen a revolution in medicine with the arrival of light medicine, frequencies and the accessibility of laser treatments, perhaps more studies on the healing properties of gemstones will be studied too.
We all know that the body not only needs essential vitamins, but also minerals just to produce energy and function. Crystals are minerals. In some places in the world, such as the Dead Sea, Epsom and other mineral dense sources, a lot of research to study the mineral content present in the water, absorbed by the skin, has been receiving a lot of endorsement for it’s beneficial effects on health.
Some minerals are better absorbed by the skin, just like magnesium and other trace nutrients present in the dead sea that we see in all the health food shops, sold in the form of sprays and oils rubs for skin. In Ayurveda, gemstones are used for this reason as well for the frequency aspect of wearing crystals.
Health Benefits From Using A Gemstone Mala:

The most noticeable benefit of a Mala is that it is used for meditation. Meditation is the best, free preventive medicine prescription accessible to all. Many studies on meditation has linked to benefits such as improvement of stress, anxiety, sleep, emotional health, addiction, blood pressure, pain control, reduction of age-related memory loss... And more and more we discover new benefits as meditation has become a popular subject in research. Ayurveda and Lifestyle
An Ayurvedic practitioner can choose the specific gemstone for an individual persons Dosha, which is the individual elemental force, unique to each person. Ayurveda is a holistic medicinal system that treats the body as a whole and disease & symptoms as an imbalance of the body’s system. So an Ayurvedic practitioner will prescribe a series of lifestyle changes in diet, exercise, meditation, massages, treatments and gemstones, to allow the body to heal itself. I have been treated by an Ayurvedic practitioner in the past with a series of dietary, lifestyle prescriptions that put me back into balance. I was told to wear a specific gemstone that touched my skin. I still get Ayurvedic treatments from time to time and now I intuitively choose my own gemstones, and anyone can do the same. For high quality gemstone Malas, choose the one that appeals to you first in our shop’s selection and read the descriptions.
